Question. Persuade. Refer. Suicide Prevention Program
September 27, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will host “Question. Persuade. Refer” (QPR) on Tuesday, Sept. 27 from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Osceola Regional Health Wellness Center Multipurpose Room in Sibley. The program is free to attend, and all are welcome.
Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.
“Say ‘yes’ to saving the life of someone in your life,” said Donna Mills, Farm and Ranch Wellness Educator with ISU Extension and Outreach. “Whether it be a family member, neighbor, colleague, student, client or anyone else, this program is designed to help the average person gain skills and resources to help others.”
Mills said that the program is open to everyone – health care workers, teachers, faith leaders, business and industry members, farmers, parents, and anyone who wants to equip themselves with skills and resources to question, persuade and refer someone in a mental health crisis to help.
As noted above, the program is free to all participants thanks to support from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) and the Osceola County Extension Council.
A complimentary lunch will be provided to all registered participants. To register or for more information, contact Sandy at 712-754-3648 or email slamfers@iastate.edu.
