2024 Election Calendar

2024 is a Presidential election year. Below is a brief summary rundown of dates and info to keep in mind!

PRIMARY ELECTION: JUNE 4, 2024 {polls open 7a-8p}

  • Check your voter registration to be sure you’re registered to vote.  Iowa law requires you to vote in the precinct in which you reside so if you’re new to Osceola County or you’ve moved within our community, be sure your information has been updated accordingly! If you need to register, you can do so here and if you need to find your polling location, search here or you can call the Auditor’s office to review this information at 712.754.2241.
  • March 26, 2024 is the first day the Auditor’s office can receive absentee ballot request forms for the Primary Election on June 4, 2024.  If you wish to vote by mail you can request an absentee ballot request form be sent to you by calling 712.754.2241 or print the form here.  Forms received prior to March 26, 2024 must be returned and a new form must be submitted after March 26th.  The Primary Election is a partisan election, meaning you’re required to declare a party and will vote only for those running for offices as that party.  This is the election that qualifies them to be on the ballot for the General Election in November. If you are currently registered as a no party, when you submit your form you MUST choose between Republican, Democratic or Libertarian. This will update your voter record, but you may complete another voter registration form to switch back after the election if you so choose.
  • May 15, 2024 is the first day absentee ballots can be mailed out, if requested or voted in-person in the office for the Primary Election.  Be sure to bring your ID if voting in-person!
  • May 20, 2024 is the last day to 1) Pre-register to vote for the Primary Election and 2) Submit a request for an absentee ballot to be mailed.  The Auditor’s office will be open until 5 p.m. today.
  • Saturday, June 1, 2024 the Auditor’s office will be open for 8 consecutive hours for in-person absentee voting.  Hours open TBD, call the Auditor’s office at 712.754.2241 to verify.
  • June 3, 2024 is the last day to vote absentee in-person in the office.  Don’t forget your ID!
  • June 4, 2024 is Primary Election Day! To cast your vote today, you must do so at your designated polling location. Today is also the last day any regular absentee by mail ballots must be received by the close of the polls at 8 p.m. in order to be counted.

GENERAL ELECTION: NOVEMBER 5, 2024 {polls open 7a-8p}

  • August 27, 2024 is the first day the Auditor’s office can receive absentee ballot request forms for the General Election on November 5, 2024.  If you wish to vote by mail you can request an absentee ballot request form be sent to you by calling 712.754.2241 or print the form here.  Forms received prior to August 27, 2024 must be returned and a new form must be submitted after August 27th.
  • October 16, 2024 is the first day absentee ballots can be mailed out, if requested or voted in-person in the office for the General Election.  Be sure to bring your ID if voting in-person!
  • October 21, 2024 is the last day to 1) Pre-register to vote for the General Election and 2) Submit a request for an absentee ballot to be mailed.  The Auditor’s office will be open until 5 p.m. today.
  • Saturday, November 2, 2024 the Auditor’s office will be open from 9-5 for in-person absentee voting.
  • November 4, 2024 is the last day to vote absentee in-person in the office.  Don’t forget your ID!
